Summer Camps

This summer Eli attended 3 day camps with his friends. There are many such camps to choose from here with a wide variety of prices and activities. He enjoyed all three camps, but I think this first one was his favorite!

Camp Invention was his first intro to summer camps, and it couldn't have been a better fit for him! He loved this camp! He and his friend Preston spent the week inventing things out of recyclable materials. They created comic book characters that had senses, could fly and morphed. They also played games where they earned points and then went to a "store" and bought materials with their points. Out of those materials, they made land sleds and then raced their sleds. Each camper was required to bring a non-working electronic device from home and then re-create it. Eli took an old phone apart and then figured out how to put it back together. He said it was so hard to take apart that they had to use a crowbar to open it!
Here he is with his friend Preston... and his comic book hero, Firebreather, made out of recyclable materials...

The second camp he went to was only for one day, but he still had lots of fun! This was a Mad Science camp. I have no pictures from this camp that he and his friend Connor attended. Throughout the day, they performed many scientific experiments such as making rockets and shooting them, learning how to make carbonated water to make soda, and making bubble bath.

Last week he went to Outdoor Adventure Camp with his friend Caleb. Everyday they did outdoor activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, sand volleyball and geocaching. Other than the fishing, all of these were new adventures for him. I was very proud of the way he tried each new thing even though it was challenging for him!

Caleb's mom took all these pictures for me. Here he is kayaking...
and fishing...

and just hanging out at camp with Caleb...

  1. Wow! These all sound like so much fun! I'd like to check these out next summer if Titus is old enough.
