Mock Meet

Gymnastics meet season is quickly approaching! From the first of December through the end of March, she will be competing 2 or 3 weekends each month. In order to prepare for those meets, her gym held a mock meet today. Real gymnastics judges were brought in to give the girls and their coaches an idea as to what areas the girls need to work on.

Emma Kate was SO excited last night! At 6:45 she asked if she could go to bed yet, because the sooner she went to bed the sooner she could get up and go to Mock Meet.

Because USGA guidelines require a girl to be 7 years old to compete at Level 5, Emma Kate has to compete as a Level 4 until her birthday (which is in January). She competed at Level 4 last year after her birthday (because a girl has to be 6yrs old to compete at Level 4).

She was very comfortable with her floor, vault and beam routines. And just like last year, still struggled with bars. The picture shows a piece of paper I found where she had written her scores down after we got home. Those are the correct scores she got on each event. Last year she hardly ever paid attention to her scores, so its kinda funny that she is already so focused on them this year.

I love the positive affirmation she gave herself by writing "great Job! Emma Kate."
